CZ 40B__ .40 S&W
I have read in gun magazines and been told by gunsmiths, that the CZ 40B .40S&W caliber, that was designed by a joint venture between CZ and COLT, is the best and most reliable of the CZ line of handguns. Only one thing, there very hard to find.___why is that?___Does anyone know why?

Well, if it says so in a GUN MAGAZINE, it HAS to be true. I mean, its not like GUN MAGAZINES ever exaggerate or anything.
So far as I know these are similar to the original CZ-75s in terms of trigger and action, but designed (by request of Colt) to have a 1911-like grip to appeal more to American shooters. They take regular CZ mags.
The only thing "joint" about this venture with Colt is that Colt asked CZ to build them the gun! Colt actually had no input on the design after that.
The reason they're scarce is that they were never very popular and were manufactured sort of sporadically. If I remember right, CDNN in Abilene TX (which is a popular outlet for discontinued retail guns) blew a bunch of these out at around $300 about 2-3 years ago
If you want one, its not like they are all that hard to find. Going price for them appears to be around $400-450, and there are at least three currently at auction on the auction site here:

Personally, I think this "Pre-B" CZ75 in 9mm is the "best" CZ handgun ever, but unlike gun magazine writers (who have NO INTEREST WHATEVER in sucking up to gun manufacturers or writing catchy pieces that sell magazines), I'm biased.
Given that I've put about 3000 rounds through the gun with zero malfunctions of any kind, I'd say its "fairly" reliable:
