Herbert Schmidt revolvers were made in Germany and imported/sold into the States during the 60's/70's time frame. Most definitely they should have a serial number. If yours doesn't, there is something wrong. As the HS revolvers were inexpensive mediocre quality handguns that sold for less then $100, for even their best model. You should consider getting rid of it before it gets you into way more trouble then it's worth. My 2?. 0 -
Thanks for the advice. There is no place on the revolvers that appears to have been damaged from removing the serial number so I assume it was made and shipped prior to 1968 0 -
Hello Rifles and Shotguns could be made and sold until 1968 .HOWEVER pistols had to have serial numbers after 1934. Take the grips off to see if there is a serial number. If Not I agree I would not keep this item in my home. 0 -
MI state firearms laws are very complicated. It appears to me that you may not possess a pistol without a permit. But, there may be a local exemption, or an exception for an inherited pistol; unless you hear from a forum member who is an expert on MI law, you would be wise to consult with local law enforcement before taking possession of this revolver.

I own a HS21 model. The serial number on mine is located on the bottom of the frame forward of the trigger guard. 0
