E WHITNEY muzzleloader
Heres another I'm looking for any info on. Marked E. WHITNEY on one side and US on the butt. This one was found in a barn by my dad over 50 years ago, its pretty pitted up, missing its trigger guard and ramrod and a couple small chunks out of the stock around the hammer but is kinda cool and has a trap door in the stock.

That's what remains of a .54 caliber US Model 1841 rifle, commonly referred to as a "Mississippi Rifle". Eli Whitney of New Haven, Ct. was one of several contractors who produced it for the US government for use in the Mexican War.
