Hi, Experts. I'm back for more assistance. I know that if the 1st generation Colt SAA had "matching serial numbers" it meant the serial number on the frame, trigger guard, and butt and inside the grips were all the same. How about the 2nd generation SAAs? Did the serial nmuber appear in the same places? Should they match? Thanks Jim

You are somewhat right and somewhat wrong .Early first generation guns had matching serial numbers in 3 Places easy to see . Then they started putting the serial number still matching on the side of the grip frame only visible with the grips off SERIAL #341001. Then the second generation guns went to one serial number on the frame and the letters SA as the last 2 digits 0001SA in1956 - 69400SA in 1974 hope this helps.

Thanks, perryshooter. Just the info. I needed. By the way, my wife tells me all the time that I'm somewhat right and somewhat wrong. It's good to be consistent! Jim
