1894 saddle ring stud
I picked up a 1894 carbine, serial number 252800. The stud on this rifle doesn't allow the saddle ring to come in contact with the receiver. Most carbines I have seen the ring has left a mark where it rubs against the receiver. Did Winchester change stud dimensions, or more likely this is and aftermarket ring. The remaining bluing around the stud suggests it has been there a long time.

thanks,
Gordon

Hello Gordon,
Winchester used the exact same stud and ring throughout the entire production run.0 -
When I see a Model 94 with a stud that isn't indexed with the lines of the gun; I've always figured that the stud was probably a replacement somewhere down the line; unless it just needs to have the threads and the back of the stud cleaned then tightened. 0
