browning Serial Numbers - Why Can't I Find Mine?

I have searched all the suggested sites to determine what my Browning serial number is suppose to be telling me. I have two Browning Citori shotguns with serial numbers that don't seem to show up in any of the state references.

The first is a 410 xxxxxPV1F3

The second is a 28 gauge xxxxxRPJE3

Can anyone tell me what the last three letters/numbers mean for each of these guns?

  Factory model number.

  You need to call Browning. As a general rule the last three numbers denote the gauge.

  First, WELCOME to the GB forums!
  
  Your 410 with the date code PV was made in 1985
  
  Your 28 ga. with date code RP was made in 1978
  
  According to "the blue book -" the 3 digits in question are codes for country of manuf. & model.
  
  Google 'browning firearms' for comntact info. for their customer service dept. They will provide you with a history letter on your gun for about $35 if more specific info. is reqd.

  The 410 matches 1985 410 skeet
  
  I can't find the 28
  
  How ever Browning made special runs of guns for large dealers in special configurations specified by the dealer that did not match Brownings standard design. It could be one of those.
