rem model 581 22lr

i have one of these with a busted mag. it will not hold the shells in place. looking at reviews online it seems that this is the norm for this rifle. anyone else have one? are all model 581 mags junk?

  i think the early one did not have the metal clip at the top to holdthem together. eastbank.

  Midway has 10 round plastic mags. The 5 rounds have been discontinued. I just got 4 of the 5 rounds from Remington on a closeout, but they are out of them now. Model 77 mags work a little better as they fit a little tighter. Midway has has both 581 and 77 10 round mags in stock. The 5 round mag works better if you can find any. The 10 round mags are bad to spit the bullets out of the top when fully loaded.
