auto sear

I am looking for a registered auto sear for AR/15 M16A1 rifle. Do you know where I might find one and how much they cost if available.

    You should check GB frequently.
    Also the three major NFA sales boards and forums.

    They are actually selling for about $12,500.

    That has been the problem, the price. I can buy a complete full auto m16 that is 90% or better of original condition for $12495. including ATF tax paid S&H insurance and ready to fire. Why would I pay that kind of money for an auto sear? DK

    Because the sear itself is a machine gun, just as if it were a complete firearm, and priced accordingly. The fact that a complete firearm is not included in the price of the machine gun has nothing to do with it's market value.

    Because the sear can be moved from gun to gun whereas a registered gun is the only one that is registered.

    Because you can then legally drop it into any gun you choose.

    Note that a good AR-15 gun costs only about $750, and you can even get one for less.

    So the cost of the actual **GUN** here is virtually negligible compared to the cost of the sear.
