I have a Walther PP 9mm Kurz and I am having trouble finding the date it was made. SN#62394A

  I just received a Walther PP from a family member. He found it on a German officer who was "in no shape to prevent him from taking it" (WW2). Apparently it is the "rare" pre-WWII model with the bottom magazine release. Just wondering how much its actually worth.

  Yes, it would have some value.
  
  Guns made < 1968 were not required to have a serial number. Unless your friend's father lived in a locality that required it be marked with a serial number & registered (New York? California?), it required neither under federal law.

  rochisland....impossible to tell you what you have without photos. Wonderful story but have to see closeup photos of the pistol to make a serious valuation.
