J.C. Higgins .410 double worth

My neighbor has a J.C. Higgins side by side double in .410. Says model 1710 on side. It is in perfect condition, no scratches or wear anywhere. It may have never been fired, I don't know. He is asking $500 for it. Are they worth that kind of money?[?] Thanks, TH

    IMHO ANY us made SXS 410 is worth $500 in the condition you describe. I think it is the same as a Stevens model 311.

    EDIT what kind of tractors are you hunting for[^]

    see them at the shows around here from $350-650 so he is in the ballpark on a decent shooter, 410 and 20,28 bring closer to the top end of the scale, 12 on the bottom end.

    The last gunshow I went to, I was looking for a 410 side by side. I couldn't find a 311 under $750 and a couple of them were kinda rough. So I think $500 for a near mint Higgins is a pretty good buy.

    I think that was a wise purchase. Keep it in nice shape and it'll pay more dividends when you decide to sell than any CD.
