CAN ANYONE IDENTIFI THIS ?

My Father had this scope,I never saw it before,It looks like it might be millitary.
It it about 20 or so pounds,has a crosshair W/circle where the crosshairs meet.On one side it says Model 82,S/N 1760
on the other side it says INFINITY twice with arrows in a circle poiting to each one [infinity]
I't a very long range scope,I could see the creaters on the moon very clearly,and the agustment was'nt turned up all the way.
I think the tube of the scope may have been painted black,it's chiped to what looks like S/S.
If anyone has knowledge about this scpoe or mabe a website which I may find out what it is,PLEASE let me know
