ruger SP101 22

Hey guys, I just picked up a 4" ruger sp 101 .22 tonight. I looked at the closed auctions for the last 90 days and I dont see one like it. The one I have only has about 1/2 underlug on the barrel. This gun is polished stainless and is mint, I dont think it's been shot since leaving the factory. What is this little guy worth???

    I had one of the mat finished one's years ago. Ruger dropped them from the line quite awhile back. I had heard that they had made a high polished version of the .357, didn't know that they made one in the .22 also? Best check with the guys on the Ruger forum you might have a sleeper on your hands. The standard mat finished .22's have been going up in price because they have been difficult to come by.

    Can't put a number on it, but the SP101 22lr have been going for decent money, more than a 357, 38, 327.

    Your KSP240 with a 4" barrel and partial shroud (under lug), is the only SP101 of any caliber with a partial shroud. It was discontinued in 2000.

    Just my opinion, but I think you you have a rare SP101 there. The highest known serial number for a KSP240 is 570-79448.

    Thanks for all the replies. The serial number on my gun is 570-685**. I looked up the date of birth on rugers website and this gun was produced in 1991. Could this early date have something to do with the gun having the small underlug??? I also checked my blue book and it only shows the .357,.38, and 9mm in polished stainless. I am thinking about listing it on the auction side.

    Seems like you have a bit of a rare find there! I wouldn't list it for auction until I knew what it was worth.

    carhaualer89. I just have to ask if the live .22 cases easily drop into the chamber when loading? I had the same firearm and I finally sent it back to Ruger because when I load a cartridge into a revolver chamber, I DO NOT want to have to push the cartridge into that chamber. I basically want the cartridge to just kinda drop fully into the chamber. For one reason when ejecting the spent cases, I I want to be able to rely on those cases coming out fairly easy and clearing the cylinder.

    Just curious.

    If it is truly a High-gloss SP-101 they are RARE. If you have the box, the catalog number will start with a G. VGUN1

    Mine did the same thing. I had to take a .22 bore brush with me when I shot it. After firing 12 shots had to clean the the cylinder with the bore brush.
