Have a one line (and a short one at that) for the name Hermann. All it has to say is English gunmaker 1889 t0 1890.
Have a little more on Ward & Son, That one says English gun maker at two addresses in London and one in Birmingham. 1 Basinghall Street E.C. London from 1877 to 1879 and 66 Coleman Street E.C. London from 1880 to 1881 and 2 Saint Mary's Row Birmingham from 1882 to 1902. The reference also says that only on specimen of this makers work has been seen and that was a damascus barreled 12 gauge hammer double serial number 22,382. Would be interested in knowing the serial number of your gun. Look on the bottom of the barrels under the forearm for poof mrks. They should be English proofs consisting of crossed scepters or halberds (battle axe/spear) with a crown over that and letters in the intersections.0
