Expert Opinion on MP5/SD weapon (Class III)

Here is an auction (http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=158076503) That I am interested in. Here are my questions:

1) If I buy this gun, can I simply add a REGISTERED lower and have a LEGAL full auto MP5?

2) From the description of this weapon in the auction, does the gun sound to be reasonable and professionally made? (ie is this a mutt gun of junk parts put together or is it legit?) Remember, I am simply asking for an honest expert opinion. You won't hurt my feelings.

3) If it IS LEGAL to add a full auto lower, would there be a third NFA tax for this weapon?

    Seems a bit high, but HK's sell for a lot of money. A stock HK-94 is $3000-$4000.

    HK's do not have registered lowers. They are either a registered receiver or what you would need is a registered sear. Prices vary a bit but a HK sear is about $10,000 last time I saw one. Nice thing is they work in many HK guns.

    Right now there is 2 NFA items with the gun. The SBR is a Form 4, the Silencer is a Form 4. If you add the sear that is another Form 4. Each transfer of each Form will require $200.

    I have not looked in a while but I thought you could find a complete MP5SD in the $15-17,000.

    Ok, I understand about the auto sear. As for guns $15-17K Yeah I hear a lot of stories, but 5 years searching and I am still in the hunt. So would you suggest I just find a H&K 94 NIB and go the route of a registered sear?

    YES, BUT THIS IS A .40 CAL SO IT WOULD PROBABLY AT LEAST a.HAVE TO BE TIMED FOR A BURST PACK or b.ALREADY BE A SET UP/TIMED/BURST READY SEAR. SPENDY.

    SEE MORE BELOW, RALPH SMITH FROM RDTS IS ONE OF THE BEST IN THE HK BIZ, THERE ARE MANY GOOD ONES, BUT HE IS WELL KNOWN AND HIS PIECES FETCH GOOD MONEY. KEEP IN MIND THIS IS A 94 (ALREADY 4k) WITH ABOUT 5-8K WORTH OF WORK ALREADY DONE TO IT. IT'S EASILY WORTH WHAT THE GUY IS ASKING...AND IT'S A CUSTOM DEAL, THERE ARE NO, AND NEVER HAVE BEEN ANY MP5/40SDs. LIKE THE HK 51 THIS IS A CUSTOM DEAL.

    YES.

    OK, ABOUT THE SD. I HAVE OWNED OR SHOT ABOUT EVERY HK THERE IS EXCEPT FOR THE NEW MP7 (GAY) AND THE CASELESS. THE SD IS THE BIGGEST HIGH MAINTENENCE POS EVER. FACTORY MANUAL SAYS "CLEAN EVERY 300 ROUNDS". ON THE 9MM AT LEAST, THE ONLY AMMO YOU WANT TO USE IN IT IS 124gr NATO, BECAUSE 115gr WILL SHRED JACKETS IN THE PORTED BBL, AND 147gr WILL CAUSE INTERMITTENT fte's. LOOKS COOL IN THE MOVIES BUT THAT'S IT.

    1. No, u would have to add a registered sear for abpout $12,00.
    That gun is a semiautomatic short barreled suppressed rifle. That is all.

    2 It is a well made firearm.

    3 No need for a burst pack. Any full auto sear or pack will work since it already has the 40 ejector.

    Add It is priced a bit high.

    This is incorrect.

    All of the .40 cals need the relief for the bolt-hold open.

    All of them are ambi, not all are burst, but the trigger boxes ARE different, and a sear registered and meant for a plain, non-ambi SEF will not work.

    Hmm, OK. Well First off my interest in a 40 is severely lacking. I would like a 9mm. I don't like this gun because it was in a movie. I have just heard how much fun they are and they are about the quietest full auto available.

    I want a good gun, at a fair price. I am not trying to get caviar at a beer price. I know I am doomed to pay out the ***. I am sure that will pale in comparison of the cost of ammo I will blow through.

    I have not heard anything about the maintenence issues. So you have my attention.
