    Most of the 35's, or something in a 9mm would work, esp with lead bullets would work.
    Production tolerances on those calibers runs in the .353-.357 range

    Considering the age of that barrel, you might consider a mild wildcat IE something along the lines of a 35-30-30 and lead bullets, just to increase it's life span.

    Apparently the barrel says Marlin on it. Is there a caliber designation on it? There should be. Does it have micro groove rifling? It could be a .35 Remington or .357 magnum. What type of sight does it have? Try dropping a .38 spl, .357 mag. or .35 Rem. cartridge into the chamber. Does any of them fit? Sometimes newer barrels look really old due to lack of proper storage. What is the length of the barrel? good luck,[;)] Ed

    Reread my post. Should have read Marlin Ballard. Barrel from the 1800's, no barrel markings but very nice and I am going to use it on something else.
