I have a Savage model 755 12 gage handed down in really goo shape, the numbers on the barrel are th only place showing wear. If I get the numbers, how do I date it and find the value?

Don't bother, Savage 755 was mfg'd between 1949-1958.
Re top dollar: around $2950 -
When I was a kid, I thought that gun was the ugliest thing I ever saw. Now I have a 775 (same gun, only aluminum receiver whereas yours is steel) with a Cutts and they are a lot prettier now!
Incidently, as I found out when I discovered, from frequent misfires, that my gun had a broken firing pin, many of the internal parts are the same as the Browning A5 or the Remington 11.
A friend bought one about a year ago, in nice shape for $275. I paid $180 for mine--after market choke devices reduce shotgun values.0 -
Hey, thanks Ambrose
My 755 is inbetter than nice shape, shoots great and bluing is 90%. I don't know whether to kep it o sell and buy a new gun. I aquired some guns thru family that are all antiques, Winchester model 60-a 22 bolt single,Winchester model 1400 w/Polychoke and vent rib, Charles Daley o/u 12Gage Miroku and Eastern arms 12 gage singe. I use the name 'out of touch' because I haven't bought a gun or kept up with the firearms for a long time.Anyway thanks for the info. If you can give me any help , I'd really appreiate it. I work with a gun dealer that I think is interested but not fully honest with me.
Thanks[:)]0
