Bought the Contender (pics added)
Thanks to all who replied yesterday to my post. Based on your comments, I went back to the shop today and bought the Contender. I am very happy with it and it shoots great! The barrels are both 10 inch octagons. One is a 22LR and the second is a 357. I believe it was made in 1968. Thanks again!

Looks good - I'd say that's in pretty decent shape. I forget which way is which but there should be a screw type set up on the hammer face that allows you to switch from centerfire to rimfire. I think the protruding part up is rimfire, down is center.
Very nice.
You know, G2 14" barrels will fit on that frame also, but I think I'd tend to stay away from the big boomers and play nice with 223, 30.30 and such.

Good deal...now you're like the rest of us. A slave to barrel collecting!
My favorite...probably because it's the first T/C I ever fired is the 7mm TCU. A very close neighbor of ours had one in 30-30. He took me out and we shot it, mostly because I didn't believe you could shoot a 30-30 in a pistol. That was my second time.
Now that I'm older and smarter I see a real purpose in these things.

My favorite caliber for that is the 35 Remington. You can get a lot of velocity out of lighter pistol bullets with it. 0
