20 Vartog? Sako action

anyone shootin' one? I might make one up on an older sako (clip model) 222

  20 Vartag? A 221 Fireball necked down to 20 cal...yes I do. In my book its a great round and far more logical than a 204 Ruger. Extremely accurate in my Cooper. 1/8 inch groups at 100 yards from most loads I have tried so far.

  I'm thinking a .221 case might not feed very well out of a Sako .222 detachable box magazine.

  I am using 18 grs of H4198 behind a 32 gr vmax bullet. While safe in my Cooper please work up to the load. As for the magazine feeding I would suggest a few dummy rounds to check feeding as it could be an issue. If the 20 Vartag won't feed well you could look at the 20 Vartag Turbo...parent case is the 222 Remington...it is just necked down to 20 cal and its given a 30 degree shoulder...velocities are in the 3800 fps vs 3600 fps with the 20 Vartag.
