10 ga blackpowder shotgun OLD

I have an old 10 gauge I just purchased, can anyone tell me more about this gun. I think it is from the civil war timeframe. It has a domascus barrel and says LAMINATED STEEL IN GOLD engraved on the barrell a small crown on the barrel and what appears to be LC engraved on the barrell as well, thanks Also I have pictures but don't know how to add to this post.

    Almost certainly "ELG"... Belgian.

    I'm guessing a breech loader. (The action breaks open to allow the insertion and removal of shells.) Otherwise a muzzle loader with a ramrod, but I'd be against that guess. I assume a hammer gun.

    Time frame would be within a couple years of the end of the Civil War on up until the mid 1870's for a muzzle loader. If a breach loader then a couple of years overlap in the early 1870's right on up to the beginning of WW1.

    Unless the gun is in almost NIB condition the value of either type will be minimal. The breech loader being somewhat more valuable.

    In any case consider this piece to be a wallhanger unless checked by a smith who knows old guns well. Black powder only.

    If the crown and LC are on the rib between barrels where the LAMINATED STEEL is, it might be a makers trademark. The proof marks should be hidden on underside of barrels breech end, and you'll have to remove the barrels to view them by carefully tapping out the cross key in forestock. But as nord states, 90% turn out to be anonymous "cottage industry" exports from Belgium, and will have the ELG in an oval Liege proofmark.
