Buy or pass on this T/C Contender?

It's an older Contender with a serial number of 282x. It has both 357 and 22LR barrels. Condition is about 85% due to light spots of rust. The price is $450. Thought I could make a 357 maximum out of one barrel for deer, etc. and use the .22 for small game. How's the price? The wood is excellent and looks original. Thanks for any replies.

    In the real world you probably won't be able to get one any cheaper, whether you buy complete or by the piece.

    It's a pistol, not a rifle or carbine, with early 10 inch octagon barrels.

    Figure each used barrel would be about $125.00. Frames are generally in the $150.00 range, throw in some wood. Not bad. Not great, but not bad.

    Sounds like a fair deal.
    The only problen I see, is you wanting to make the 357bbl. into a max. I would get a bull barrel for that, not use a octagon one.

    What you're looking at for that price is a good deal. Most used T/C's like that only come with one barrel. I prefer the G2 version but the original version is a very handy gun. Many say the triggers are better on the original than the G2.

    Pistol is the way to go IMO. When you feel like it you can upgrade to a 7mm TCU[;)]...[:D] Of course there's a lot of barrels you can purchase when you feel a need for more or less of whatever it is you have.

    I say go for it and enjoy yourself.

    If either one of those barrels are the octagon ones, then that is a steal. If not, it is still a deal.

    The frames alone are going for around $200.00 plus in this area..
    Good idea not to use the octagon barrels for the Max....

    I have two of each in G2 and Encore and an older "couger" frame. I agree, very much prefer the trigger on the older frame. Fully adjustable & has an overtravel screw, both features eventually done away with on the G2/Encore version. I understand the G2/Encore design doesn't have a trigger adjustment per se, but eliminating the overtravel screw to save a few $$$? Thank you Smith & Wesson. [V]
