PRIMERS?!?!?!?!
Hello all,
I am new to reloading, I have all my equipment and am ready to make some bullets. I have bought bullets, tumbler, dies, books, and am all ready to go minus primers. What is up with them? Why the heck is EVERYONE out of stock?!?!?
Is there some kind of law making primer makers to only make a curtain mount? Sheesh! Oh and 5k primers? I don't know if I would ever use that many let along know anything about wolf brand. Every thing I have read leans me towards Federal and CCI primers. Where can a guy go to buy some to build plinking rounds? Thanks

Mosher50,
No offense but you might have been out of touch for the last, say 15 months?
The Liberal Socialists of America elected the head of a socialist regime to the office of President. This put a great fear in the hearts of shooters everywhere in the U.S. which started a buying frenzy of firearms and products related to firearms and shooting. This spread to reloading components also. Primers were hit the hardest and the on-hand stock was rapidly depleted. The demand stayed high while the manufacturers were caught flat-footed. They are now working 3 shifts trying to regain ground while still supplying two wars.
The store shelves are starting to show signs of a supply but your area may be a little slower to get the products you desire. If your supplier can't get some soon you may have to order some online but you will pay an additional HazMat fee for shipping. Check surrounding communities for a potential supply or ask friends to help you out for the short term until you get a supply.

once you get started, you will be surprised how fast they will disappear.0 -
Wolf is fine. May want to re-think the Federals if you are using an auto feed system for the primer.
Watch for cartons that are less then 5000 or 1000. I have noticed that some of the boxes are now "900" instead of "1000" per carton, so look at what you are getting for the price.
When you find a good deal, buy at least 5000, they keep.

Found one place that has primers. Every other store in the area is out.
Place is 60 miles away. But near the V.A. hospital they keep sending me to. So each time I go down I buy 1,000 primers. Think I now Have enough to load up all my 5.56 Brass.0 -
try www.elkcountrysports.com they have lots of primers.
Their website is down at the moment but they should be up soon.0 -
Be aware that the hazmat fee is like $20. If you think 5000 is a lot, you have to order several boxes at least to make the hazmat worth it. 0 -
There seem to be plenty listed on gunbroker if you want to pay the price. 0
