VIS 35 pre invasion pistols
This is a continuation of a previous topic thread that was locked due to the 10 Posts rule. I'll move this topic over to the General Discussion Forum soon, but wanted to continue here for the moment as I have a pertinent "Ask the Experts" query that was left previously unanswered. Gary Wray commented that the 1939 dated VIS 35 pistol with mismatched serial numbers that I was describing is a gun that was put together by the Nazis after they overran Poland and took over the armament factory at Radom. What puzzles me about this is the lack of any German acceptance or inspection stamps on this piece. I've seen Polish "Eagle Radoms" that were captured by the Nazis and they've had the Nazi eagle stamped upon them. So, the question is: Does the absence of Nazi markings on a 1939 dated, serial number mismatched Polish VIS 35 indicate a pistol that was built hurriedly by the Pols pre-invasion, or could it be a post-invasion pistol cobbled together by the Nazis but not inspection stamped? Does anyone have the answer? Many thanks, Harry

littleharry105....perhaps what we need are photos of your VIS 35 so we all know exactly what we are talking about. You need also to know that when the German Army got to the Radom factory the Polish workers had done a pretty good job in destroying/damaging much of the equipment. That caused the Germans a lot of trouble in restarting the factory and they really did not get things repaired and restored until early in 1940. But, there were lots of VIS 35 parts evidently laying around and that resulted in the transitional production of the pistol which leads me to believe that you might have one of those transitional pistols. From time to time VIS collectors do see the kinds of strange VIS 35's appear so there are a few out there. So, I will reserve any further comment until I see the closeup photos of what you actually have and will be interested in other comments that you receive. 0 -
How are photos posted on this forum? I've looked throughout the GB Forum FAQ's, etc., and didn't find a way to post photos. I know it's possible as I've seen other posts with photos included so I've obviously missed something here. 0 -
