Fair trade? XD-40 for Gen4 Glock 22?
I have a Springfield XD40 .40sw that an individual is willing to trade a like new Glock Gen4 22 .40sw for. Is this a fair trade? Its kinda hard for me to find a market price on either of these because it doesn't look like anyone is bidding on either one on gunbroker at the moment.

In my area (Tampa Bay, FL) the Glocks sell for $10-$20 more than the XDs. Especially the gen 4s. If the condition of both guns are the same I would say it would be a good deal economically.
However, I have both a G-22 and XD-40 and prefer the XD-40. Therefore, I personally wouldn't make the trade [;)]0 -
Thanks, I kinda figured that, just really wanted a second opinion. I own two Glock 22 3rd gens and 1 XD40. I never shoot or cary the XD. I do like its trigger pull better, but I went thru an academy with a Glock 22 and its kinda what I've been carrying ever since. I saw thew new Gen4 and kinda liked it. The guy is willing to trade even cause he wants and XD40. Only thing is, I kinda like to have 1 of everything, and I won't have an XD sitting in the safe anymore. But I'd actually shoot the Glock 22 Gen4. Oh the presssure, what to do. 0 -
Start carrying and shooting the XD and you wont go back to the Glock. 0 -
Neither one of these is particularly collectible. They're shooters.
If you know you are going to shoot the Glock but not the XD, I think you're better off with the Glock (regardless of how many others you have).
There is something to be said, by the way, for having multiple similar/identical guns. You'll be more proficient with them, mags and ammo will interchange, and you'll have a ready backup should one go out of service for any reason.
Personally speaking, I also tend to prefer the XD over the Glock, though I haven't yet tried the newest Gen 4 Glock. In any case this is largely a question of personal preference.0
