who here is an absolute authority on
Browning A-5 shotguns? I really need to pick your brain on some difficult to research topics. I have studied brownings and read everything I come across that seems to increase my knowledge but I have questions I haven't found the answers for. also, do you know of any books specifically about this topic?
thanks

scottm21166,
I have cleared your topic so you can hopefully get some reliable information instead of insincere remarks.

I am by no means an absolute authority, but, have a affinity for Brownings. You don't mention what books you have read.
Have you had the opportunity to read Matt Eastman's book "Browning - Sporting Arms of Distinction"? It stops at 1992, but, has a 80 or so pages rundown on the A5. Browning now offers history letters also.
An entire 200 pages plue, book on the A5 is "Browning Auto-5 Shotguns, The Belgian FN Production" by H.M. Shirley, Jr.& Anthony Vanderlinden0 -
I looked at those books but I cannot afford them. maybe if they came in paperback?
Is the Browning book like George Maddis' Winchester book?
maybe you could help with some direct questions about auto-5's.
what is the first year browning built and installed a ventilated rib barrel?
what is the last year they made a solid rib
what are the variations of barrel address and what are their time frames. For example an ogden address st louism or st louis and Montreal.
where can I find pictures of the differnt grades of early guns (online)0
