If it has an over travel screw in the trigger, and it should, back it all the way out or take it out.Sounds likeyour sears are shot.Any parts should work in the gun.

You could also try www.egw-guns.com or www.novaksigths.com ph. 304-428-2676.
One of them should have a sear for a GC.

I would think any 70 series 1911a1 sear would work BUT Gun parts shows one for a 70 series Gold Cup sear # 45 in the drawing and part # 236230 for 45 and 10 mm @$22.75 in stock

Could it be a pre-70 style?? If I remember my old gold cup disconnecter set up, it had a different shape and a very small coil spring thru it.
Working with memories from 35 years ago here...I may be mistaken. Bob

the sear is only one of several parts that are 'fire control parts', (hammer, sear, sear pring, trigger, disconnect).

IMHO the series 70 was the high water mark on Colt 1911 style pistols . The gold cup was a big improvement as to having adjustable sights albeit the hinge cross pin Could either come out or break . The trigger was wider and had over travel adjustable both good points but was very heavy Bad MOJO it could bounce and case multiple discharges. so colt tried the bandage approach and had that stupid little spring and special sear as well as bent little piece of metal.I shot Match built series 70's for years and always installed standard good quality parts but like others stated The three leaf spring sear disconnector hammer sear safety all play a part in good SAFE trigger pulls. 3&1/2 pound Minimum. double click on my name and send me an email I might be able to help ..."PRAISE THE HARD-BALL GUN"

The guy you want to talk to is Alan Tanaka of AT Custom Gunworks. Phone is 310-327-2721. He isn't cheap but he is a wizard with Colt 1911s, just ask my Colt Delta.
