Selling M16 FCG
Hi,
Need some advice on a couple of issues, please.
I recently purchased one of the M16A1 kits that hit the market recently. These kits were apparently discovered overseas (rumored to be Isreal) unissued from the 70s - receivers and barrels were destroyed, disconnector removed and sold as kits. Very nice, too I might add for anyone considering a retro build. These kit include the full FA FCG minus the disconnector.
1 - Knowing the basics of the NFA, and getting some good advice from the great folks at the AR-15 Retro forums, I have purchased and installed a semi-auto LPK. I now have the M16 FA FGC - minus the disconnector - sitting on my table making me nervous.
Can I legally sell these items on gunbroker.com or anywhere else online? Do I have to have a special disclaimer or ask to see a tax stamp? What are my options for disposing of these items - and I would like to make a little money of course. I would hate to have to destroy them.
2 - If the advice of the experts leads me to sell these items what can I reasonably ask for them price-wise? They are genuine Colt and they are 30 years old. That should add some value?

They are just parts. You were legally able to buy them; so, it is legal for you to possess them, & it is legal for you to sell them. You can sell them anywhere (except ebarf) without qualification, just as you bought them without qualification.
The problem is, you're not the only one who bought an M16 parts kit, & there isn't a lot of demand for used parts. ATF has ruled that M16 hammers, triggers, disconnectors, & bolt carriers should not be used an AR-15 type rifle, so, while you can legally own these parts, you can't use them.
If you want to sell your kit, list it on Gunbroker with a starting price of half of what you paid; you might make money, you might not.
