Ruger MKII or Standard?

I have a ruger 22 pistol w/ serial # 14-8XXXX. I was under the impression that it was a MKII when I bought it but now doing some research I'm not so sure if it isn't a standard. It's around 90% condition. Can anyone confirm what it is, and about how much it would be worth?

    If the MKII serial numbers continue on after the standards and MKI's then it should be a standard. If it's a mkII it should say MKII on it somewhere. You can get date of make information from this website

    It should be a late 70's Standard, but you can send info to ruger and they will send you a letter with the Date of Make, which may or may not fall exactly in these batches, because they say they may have had special groups or batches out of order...

    I almost forgot, you're pistol might be worth around $200, but that could change a lot depending on a lot of things. I've picked up several Standards from $175-$250, but you can also check the auction side of GB and see what others like yours are going for.

    Thanks for the info walther86. I was pretty confident that it was a standard after doing some research, but just wanted the second opinion. From what I've seen I do think it was made in '78. And the value is about what I was expecting.

    walther86 has it correct. also, a mk II will have a bolt release lever above the left grip panel, standard and mk I pistols do not have this feature.
