I was told not to remove the patina.
My father used to shoot it. But it was in a gun case for a number of years. Do you know of a web site that I can read more about H & R or find a similar restored one?0 -

Patina and rust are 2 different things. remove the grips, soak it with some good penetrating oil, let it set for a couple hours and remove the rust with some 0000 wool. Its sentimental value that can never be replaced. Don't store it in the case anymore when you get it cleaned up.0 -
Welcome to the forum. You appear to have an American Double Action or Young American Double Action H&R. ADA: made 1883-1940,about 850K made, 32,38,44 cal centerfire. YADA: made 1884-1941, about 1,500K made, 22 rimfire & 32 S&W centerfire. Both available in 6" barrel which looks like what you have. Your round barrel means it's an early production model and is worth a premium. Value for either model: $50 - $125. I have a nickel plated model & paid about $115 for it about 4 years ago. 0 -

Your H&R is a Model 922.
R prefix of serial # = 1955 manufacture.
Very well made revolver, but is was one of the most economical utility grade, work guns.
I have 2, and love them both.
Value, according to Bill Goforth, and Jim Hauff. The gengtleman who wrote the most recent info, and values for the Blue Book of gun values.
100% $ 195
98% $ 175
95% = $ 150
90% = $ 125
80% = $ 110
70% = $ 95
Looking at yours, I would guess about 100, maybe 125.
Hopefully it is worth more to you for sentimental value!!

No extra features, fixed sights, etc. But both are GREAT shooters!!

This is all very interesting. I have no interest in selling it; want to give this on to my children; along w/ other belongings he left me. Thank you so very much for the information. Sounds like I need to learn how to get this cleaned up! 0
