Optics for Les Baer Police Carbine

First post ever here, so bear with me. Just purchased a LB carbine, (price was right, name is cool, looks like fun, first AR) 223 w/ 16" barrel, wondering what folks suggest for optics. Mostly figure this for a 50 yd range type gun, not hunting.

    I believe the EOTech model that uses 2 AA batteries would give you the best features and accuracy for the ranges you mentioned. Once you have used the holo sight tech, it's very hard to see anything else as being good enough.

    Eotech and AimPoint both use batteries. Trijicon reflex does not. Hence, it does not need to be turned on when you need it.

    Good point about the battery issue...at least the AA route has a very long life and ease of replacement, but no batteries is a better option all things considered.

    IOR valdada makes an good red dot sight now. It is called the "RDS" it is NV compatable for ruffly half the price of the competition, It seems to be made to Valdadas standards.. that would be my first choice because it is $275 verses 400-550 for an aimpoint/eotech..

    A few other good red dots are the:

    Leupold also makes a prismatic sight for use on the AR-15. It has a reticle that needs no batteries.

    If you get the valdada RDS or an aimpoint model I'd highly advise you to get a mount that is advertised to cowitnesses in the bottom half or 3rd of the field of view..

    If you want some magnification burris, aimpoint and eotech all make red dot magnifiers.. a magnifier is basically a 3x or 4x monocular that mounts behind th red dot, the dot is the aiming point.

    The burris model is called the tripler, and burris also makes a Flip to the side mount to be used with it, so that you can quickly switch between useing the monocular and the unmagnified sight.
