    oone thing i have not found any where on the gun is a import stamp or any marks at all of an importer?

    redhead71....your serial # preceded by AC and the manufacture date of 1943, indicates that your rifle was made at the BSA factory at Shirley, outside Birmingham, one of over 660,000+ rifles produced by that factory during the war. The Brits started double coding No4Mk1's as a prefix to the serial # to avoid duplications. In the end they produced over 4M of this rifle! Hope this helps!
