It is a very safe bet 1950's vintage military Berdan primers
are corrosive. Be safe and follow a corrosive primer cleaning procedure.

That's good advice and, of course, that's my policy with unknown priming. But that's the reason for my question--does anybody KNOW if they are corrosive or not.

If primer is made of copper / corrosive; made of brass / non-corrosive.
I checked several other forums and came up with up with quote:

Great Britain: Imperial Metal Industries (Kynoch) Ltd. Produced cartridges in several plants, marked Kynoch or K, with the date. Changeover from corrosive to noncorrosive primers was made gradually over a number of years, and dates are not available. As a general rule, their brass primers are nonmercuric and noncorrosive, and copper primers are corrosive and mercuric. This rule is not entirely reliable, however, as a few lots of having brass primers contained corrosive composition.

    Still nothing concrete.
