hi the Remington 7600 pumps are a good work horse on hunting and shooting the Remington pumps have been around for the last 50+ years. The only thing on the Remington pump and semi auto guns are keep the chamber clean!! they will rust up on you.other than that shoot and be safe! 0 -
Here in PA the Rem 760 and 7600 are quite popular (aka the Amish Machine gun). I have one in 30-06 and it's more accurate than you would expect a carbine to be. And the pump action allows a very fast follow-up shot if needed for deer hunting. 0 -
My buddy has one he likes it being more compact than his Rem 700 and lighter. In his tree stand the shorter barrel helps for turning and obviously lightness for climing. 0 -
I think they're great rifles and most or more acurate then you would expect. I grew up shooting an 870 so the 760 just felt like a good fit for me. AS you can see by the picture I'm a little biased part of my pump gun collection

just bought my first rifle,want to go deer and bear hunting in the u p is this 30-06 pump good for that and what is a good ammo and grain for that type of hunting? what do i need to do to maintane this rifle,mine is used but in good cont clean rifeling blueing good shape ,but the wood needs to be redone.any special problems with the rifle? thanks for your help and info.hauss240 -

The ammo depends on what type of animal you are hunting and range! With the game you are hunting try 165gr or 180gr Remington pointed Core-lokts, they seem to work fine in my two 7600's. As said earlier, make sure to keep your chamber clean. Good luck, and enjoy.0 -

Good Gun! If you are shooting under 100yds I would go with 180 gr round nose Rem Core-Locks for Bear. They will get the job done. I have hunted over 50 years in the U.P...I am speaking from experience!
