yes, you can ship a firearme you legaly own to yourself (no ffl involved). either to your home or somewhere else, just address it to 'you'.

It's not clear cut that UPS is the way to go.

You need to use the online calculator for UPS, Fedex, & USPS to determine the cheapest way to ship, as factors such as package size, weight, location, & amount of insurance make it difficult to figure the cost.

If loss or damage is a consideration, USPS is generally the best way to ship long guns.

You won't be able to ship in the "factory" cartons, so you will need to buy shipping containers, or take them with you.

I would ship the gun the day before I left, so that I would be back home to sign for it, so that's not a problem..Thanks.

"and you must be their to SIGN for it?"........no, you can address it in care of whoever, you must be the one to OPEN it tho. Say you want to go hunting out west, you can mail your rifle to yourself I.C.O. the outfiter you will be hunting with, he receives the rifle, you open it when you get there.

I am an FFL dealer. USPS is the cheapest way to go. I can ship, insure and have delivery comformation on a handgun for under $20. It does have to go Priorty. What aggervates me about some sellers on gunbroker is they want a premium price for their guns, but then they want to charge $40 or $50 for shipping. No way, I'm paying that much for shipping. Thats usually the first thing I look at when Im browsing the site.. How much is this dude gonna try and stiff me for shipping..

Red- unfortunately, the ATF has folks working for them that have no idea what their own regs call for. It says nothing about who signs for the package. You ship to yourself, if necesary, in care of someone else, You are not transferring ownership- which is where the ATF comes in.

A phone call to ATF is a good way to get bad information about federal gun laws.
