1859 Sharps
I have no experience with these but have an opportunity to buy one. Sorry, don't have possession so pictures aren't an option right now. Pretty sure its an 1859 Sharps 52 caliber. Has 22 inch barrel with saddle ring and patch box (didn't know to check whether brass or steel; think it was brass though). Appears to be in about 60% condition although given the age, might be a little better than that. One chip noted in buttstock, maybe a small crack too. Didn't think to write down the SN but think it was in the 20,000 range. Some crud in the breech so couldn't tell much about the inside of the barrel. What should I be checking for? Is $2500 to $3000 in the ballpark for this type of Sharps? Thanks in advance for any info.
