    Mike,

While I am not Bert, I can say those pictures are a bit shakey to be able to tell if te metal has been refinnished. It looks like the stock has been. I would say the rear sight is original. What chambering is it? If you could get some clear pictures, it would be a great help. I would almost surely say the rifle does not fall into the antique category, and was made in the early 1900's.

With the forging marks showing on the receiver, I doubt it has been refinished.

I'd check with Cody if the Climbin Lyman sight is original. That's a nice rifle! In 45-70 too! Is the wood "proud" to the metal? Too blurry to tell. Post a link if and when that one goes up!

That's a fine looking rifle in a highly desireable caliber. I second gearheaddad's note about posting a link if it does go up for auction.

It looks good to me from what I can see through the blurry pictures. I sincerely doubt that it has been refinished or reblued. What I can not see, is that it has a set trigger?

    Mike,

That is not a factory set trigger... or at least not one that I am familar with.

The rest of the rifle looks very good, and it is original in my opinion.

"That is not a factory set trigger"...........I deleted that part (was going by the owners discription). according to the sticky above this was mgf. in early 1905, any Idea of value?

Mike, I doubt that it is a 1905 vintage rifle... more likely to be at least a few years later.

If that rifle letters (and I highly recommend getting a Cody letter) with the Lyman receiver sight, it should be in the $5500+ range, though the market is soft right now.
