python help

Can anyone tell me what year my python was made the serial # is 58465
I just bought it and have no paper work with it.Please help

  1966....if there is no prefix or suffix letter.
  
  In that era, I think there was only Royal Blue. The Python was highly polished and then blued so the finish looked "deep". Look very closely at the roll marks on the barrel and the rampant Colt insignia on the side plate. If they are not deep and with sharp edges then I would say it has been refinished for sure.
  
  Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe "black chrome" was ever an option for the Python. It was Blue, Nickel, Polished Stainless, or Electroless Nickel. There was a recent topic on Python finishes if you want to check back through smart search.

  There is no prefix or suffix. The gun doent look like it has the traditional blueing.It looks more like a black color.Someone told me they made a black chrome.I never heard of such but thats what I was told.

  The royal blued guns look like black chrome or almost purple. Your gun is most likley royal blue like the previous post stated they polished the gun then blued it to get a reflective blue/black/purple finish..
