Gary, Welcome to the forums. .39 spl+P brass is the same as regular .38 brass. Its just stamped with the +P because its loaded to higher pressures and velocity at the factory so it must be so marked.

Any +p brass can be reloaded using regular non +P loadings and work just fine.

If you have 38spl. dies, all you have to do is adjust the bell mouth stem and the seating dies for 357mag. Depending on the age of your 1894C, you might have to get a gunsmith to tweek it to feed 38spl. rounds. I had to do mine.

    Thanks for the info guys.
As far as the age of my Marlin, how does brand spankin' new, right out of the box sound?[:D]
I also posted a question in the Cowboy action shooting forum that probably should have been posted here. Would you mind taking a look over there?
    Thanks,
    Gary

    PS Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome to the forum, toolfogie. I'm thinking about buying that same gun, let me know how it works out for you, will you?
    Thanks.

Lately, I've made it a practice to use +P marked cases for actual +P loads just like the factories do since I now have a small revolver not +P rated. Prevents mixing loads, too.

    Hey Greg,
Can you see me smiling from there?

Started with some mild 38 special handloads (it was all I had) and shot 10" groups about 12" to the right in a pretty stiff crosswind. Got some 357 factory loads, tapped the rear sight a little to the left, and shot this group with no wind. I'm a happy camper.[:)]
