date of birth?

best guess as to the date of birth on this k-22 smith and possible value. revolver is in better condition than pictures show.

    An excelent job on the pictures - - as far as you went.

    It's hard to evaluate the whole gun with only one side shown.

    What is the barrel length? (measure from front face of the cylinder to the end of the barrel)

    Is there a model # stamped on the frame inside of the yoke cutout.(visible with the cylinder open)

    As posted your ser# indicates early 1957 manufacture.

    Your gun is a 4 screw, introduced in 1958.

    Your pictures appear to show a longer barrel than the normal 6".

    Within the time frame of your gun's manuf. 36 were reported to have 7 1/2" barrels (read; add premium to price) & 8 3/8" barrel wasn't introduced 'till 1958.

    It is known that S&W didn't always release their guns in sequence of ser# - - however I STRONGLY suggest you contact S&W for a factory letter. It's the only way to know the originality of your gun's features & there is a posibility you have a special order gun which will add bucks to the actual value.

    Estimated value: $400 to $2000

    6" Barrel with 80844 on yoke and on frame where model number
    usually appear. no model number anywhere except the k on the
    bottom of grip with s.n.
    not trying to get an exact value ( not for sale ), but i gave $399
    at XXXXXXXXX yesterday.
