i have 30/06 behind the front sight it says u.s.rifle cal 30 m1springfield armory 942981 on top of breech d28287- 19sa b 18 on barrel blue sky /arlington. va.gun is in execlent shape it takeys me a while to put picture on thanks

  I am looking for the approximate age and value. My friend was in Korea in l95l andf I wondered if he brought this home with him. He is deceased now but was in the Infantry. It says under tghe rear site that the gun was made by Winchester. Any help is appreciated.

  well for starters your rifle was made by winchester during w.w.2, then rebuilt and given to Korea who then resold it back to blue sky importers in the early 1990's. your buddy then bought it from some gun shop. the Koreans rode these hard & put 'em up wet.

  Value would be in the $300-600 range, depending upon the condition of the barrel.
