fitting parts????

hello-can anyone tell me how to make a smoke/soot device so i can 'soot' up parts to see where things are hitting when fitting things together???? barrel inleting,stock intletting ect ect thanks

    Steal so of your old lady's lipstick when she isn't home.

    a Carbide lamp is what we use to Soot up sights it works well for inletting also. Champions choice www.Champchoice.com sells a unit I forget the brand but ask for Homer and tell him you want the unit to blacken sights and small can of Carbide.

    I made a smoke lamp out of an empty apple juice bottle by drilling a hole in the cap, soldering an empty cartridge case
    into the hole, pulling a wick up through the hole and using kerosene as a fuel. or you can just go to your local hardware store and buying one.

    For fitting metal parts, Dykem is often used or a 'magic marker'-type pen.

    For inletting stocks, find an art store and get a tube of Prussian Blue or something similar. Use an acid brush to apply and press into the inlet.

    You might want to invest in a book titled: Gunsmith Tips and Tricks from Brownells.

    I use a blend of 50/50 lipstick and Noxzema. Something about the cold cream keeps the lipstick from staining the wood.

    Professionals use Prussian Blue. Brownell's sells it and a tube will last for years.
