Price of shipping guns???
I had to ship my CZ 75B Omega back to CZ because the trigger bar spring keeps coming loose after mag changes making the gun inoperable. Call the 800 number and got a return number, then followed the instructions on the website. So I go to fed ex, and at the counter when the clerk asked if there was anything flamable, dangerous, etc, I told her it was a firearm. She said that firearms could only be shipped express, and I said that was fine, till she said "Ok and that will be $82" WTH!!!!!! $82???
Is that normal? Does it typically cost $82 to ship a firearm anywhere?

It always was expensive, the thieves at FedEx will only ship it over night priority to keep their sticky fingered employees from walking off with it.
Best to take it to a local FFL holder. They can ship it by priority U.S. mail for 1/4 of the cost that FedEx quoted you.0 -
Pretty normal for handguns for those who are stuck with UPS or FedEx. You can hand it over to an FFL dealer who can mail it for under $15 and even if he charges you a $25 "handling fee" ($40 in total) you'd be money ahead. 0 -
Wow, wish I would have known that FFL's could have shipped for less
Ugh, its still frustrating, because for the added price of shipping I could have got a standard CZ 75B without the omega trigger and it would be working just fine.0 -
As a FFL, I can and will send a handgun USPS FLAT RATE for $11.00 + $1.00 per $100.00 insurance. Hope this helps. Oh, forgot to mention , a FFL will need a "Form 1508" to tell the post office you can do this.

If you are shipping from FFL to FFL, you can ship priority USPS for about half the UPS price. You only have to fill out a simple declaration form at the PO. 0 -

You don't fill out any forms the FFL does.[:)]0 -
It's only handguns that must be shipped by a common carrier. Did you ask CZ if they would issue a Fedex Return Label, so that you could have the gun shipped back to them at their expense? Seems to me that they should pay shipping both ways, as it's their product that is defective.
Never hurts to ask to speak to a supervisor.

Yesterday I shipped a Mossberg shotgun 700 miles from northern MI to West Virginia for $14.93 including insurance. 0
