question of legality..

Are shotguns with a pistol grip in lieu of a stock legal? Barrel length is legal and not an issue.
I'm in Texas, if it is a state mandated thing.

  Yes they are legal. Under Federal law the barrel must be at least 18" and overall the gun must be at least 26". Most state laws are consistent with federal statutes.
