Model 1892 value
I have a Winchester model 1892 with a low serial of 2978.
It is in what I would call fair condition. Any idea of the value?

Then post up high quality crisp sharp photos of the gun. your idea and my idea of fair condition are 2 very different opinions. Kind of like, I have a fair condition 57 Chevy. What's it worth? albertleigh, Welcome to the forum. A lot of good information can be gleaned here. The amount of original finish on your rifle and whether it has all original parts are more important in determining value than is the low serial number. All other things being equal, the lower serial numbered rifle would be more desirable.
To give you any valid appraisal we must see several clear and close up photos of the rifle. One of the stickies at the top of the forum explains how to post photos.
If you don't have digital photo capability, go to gunbroker.com and do a smart search for completed auctions. Hopefully you will find similar rifles that have sold and can see what someone was willing to pay for a similar rifle. The listings usually have photos so you can compare yours to those that have sold. Ignore the minimum bids as only what someone would bid or what someone has paid for a rifle are meaningful.0 -

There are several other pieces of information that are needed... please provide answers to the following;
1. Barrel length?
2. Barrel contour (e.g. octagon, round, or half-octagon half-round)?
3. Caliber (e.g. 44 WCF, 38 WCF, 32 WCF, or 25-20 WCF)?
4. Butt stock congiguration (e.g. straight grip or pistol grip)?
5. Butt plate type?
6. Plain stocks or fancy?
As the other fellows have mentioned, pictures of your Model 1892 would really help us to answer your question.0 -
