1916 Gesichert gun
My mother recently passed and I found among her possessions a 1916 Gesichert gun. The gun is totally disassembled and in need of repairs. The markings on the gun are, 1916, 8.82 1019, 6707, N, J TC. Is this gun worth having repaired?

Gesichert means "safe" (IE the safety is on).
Does it resemble the pistol in the photo below?

That's important info..because a disassembled serviceable P-08 Luger will bring more money.

I think all it need is to be reassembled. I have no knowledge of guns and not sure if all the parts are there. I was able to put most of the parts together. The clip is with the gun. I am not really interested in putting back together. Do you have any idea what this gun might sell for as is.0 -

Well, if you are not interested in re-assembling the gun, and are interested in monetary return from its sale.....impasse.
If you can post one 'exploded' view of the entire parts layout, and check whether all the parts match the last two numbers of the SerNo (you will be asked), then place it here for auction.
Start it at a penny, and list it here at GB with $0 (zero) reserve. The penny listing will place the gun on the 'hot' list (many bidders), more people will look at it, and the hardcore bidders will look at it, also. You must inform the buyers that you do not hold an FFL license.
Following above procedure, you will see from between $350-$500 (or substantially higher if parts match the SerNo, or the gun is an uncommon variant). The upper-end quote is optimistic, as I believe you have a 'Black Widow' P-08 (Luger). That would make it an unmatched parts gun to start with. Best to check.
If you don't follow above, and walk into a gunshop, you will probably see a return of between $75-$125 for your efforts.

thomp667....what you have is a WWI German Luger, which is when assembled a rather valuable piece of history. Yes, you see that it is disassembled, but how do you know that it is "...in need of repairs?" What it might need is just to be correctly put back together so, to answer your question, yes, it is worth having at least someone who knows about them tell you what you have, perhaps put it back together for you, or tell you what you need to make it right. If it was mine, I would find a local gunshop and go get some information from someone who knows something about them. They are rather complicated pistols, finely crafted and worth some good money when put together. With a little effort and time on your part, you could get 10x as much as a "parts gun." Take/send it to a well known restoration smith. This one is NOT a "do it yourself" project!!! 0 -
Any gunsmith should be able to identify it, assemble it correctly, & evaluate its condition, for no more than $50.
Assembled, & with the ability to guaranty its function, you might be able to get $1,000, or more, for it.
But, if you don't want to bother, just sell the parts & be satisfied with a couple of hundred. It's your choice.

The 1916 is the year of manufacture. Grips in those years were wooden. Black plastic grips would be a replacement and cut the value.
Any professional gunsmith should be able to reassemble the pistol.0
