Remington Model 799--?'s

Brown Bass Hunter
Does anyone have any experience with the Remington 799? I am considerng one in a 22 Hornet. I like the size of the gun and the features. I know this gun is not Remington made, but just marketed by them. Thanks for any info from the experts.

    I have one (imported by KBI), nice all steel rifle. will group <1" @ 100yrds. with proper ammo. has an adjustable trigger.

    As has been pointed out, I believe Remington has discontinued importing them. This looks like another Remy marketing brain fart. Too bad Charles Daly was not able to keep the importation and distribution rights.

    I have seen some very attractive pricing on these, probably because retailers are closing them out.

    I agree, sad that these are on temporary hold because of Remingtons stupidity. I had a feeling and stated as such this would happen. I might say malice but Remingtons marketing department is just too stupid for that:

    My favorite Remington 'stupid dog trick' is coming up with the 6mm BR but not building a rifle rifle for it.
    Preceded by "Here's a 7mm BR and 7mm-08...but you accuracy shooters just go ahead and make your own brass."
    The 22-250 and 25-06 were called other names long before Remington horned in on them.
    "Lets go ahead with a .257 case bigger than the .250 Savage (a fine case in it's own right), but,load it with the same power as our 25 Remington so people don't get 'em confused." (That there probably did more for handloading than most any other thing I can think of)
    "Lets build a great rifle (the 700)...then chamber it in everybody elses rounds"

    Personally I'd spend the extra money and buy a CZ527 hornet before the Rem 799. The trigger that comes on the 799 is nothing to brag about whereas the 527 trigger is. To upgrade the 799s trigger with a Timney will make the two rifles prices very similar.
