Need short scope-Help
Can anyone point me in the direction of a short (lenght) scope? Problem is
On a Rem. 673 .350 mag with the rib in place, and low rings, the scope either hits the rear sight or the rib itself. It will take at least high rings to get over just the rib itself, without the sight. Since I am color blind the red dots don't work for me. If possible, I want low rings (or med.),and a short 3 X 9 (more or less)scope so that I can leave the rib, and sight on the gun. THX Hawkshaw

Hi Donna,
Look at the Leupold line of Compact scopes. It is a 3-9x33, and should be just what you are looking for. I would mount it in the steel weaver type base, and the matching QD rings. Yes, not an inexpensive venture, but well worth it. While most medium height rings will clear a 40mm bell on a standard rifle, these will be a close call even on the 33mm bell. You might have to go to high rings.

Take a look at the Timberline series of Burris scopes. They offer a 3x9x33 that is 10.5" overall length and is very lite. And, there is only 1.5" between the turrets and the front bell of 1" tube. They come with Burris's balistic plex reticule. Best or worst, depending on how you look at it, is that they run for under $150. So they are by no means their high end offering, but they do have with Burris's lifetime warranty. I've got two and like them well enough. Hope this helps....... 0 -

My vote exactly. The Timberline line is very small, I have a 4X on a Browning 22 semi, the 3 to 9X on a Ruger Mini and the 4.5 to 14 on an Encore in 6X47. These scopes are about the shortest & smallest around and work well on the smaller guns. Good value too.
I think the short magnum line from Burris would work well too.0 -
