Ruger SR9 Trigger

My son just picked up a new 9mm Ruger SR9 on Gunbroker. We have run about 200 rounds through it. The trigger pull seems a little rough. Is this something that will break in and go away or is their something inside we can sand or polish?

  Rugers are notorious for heavy triggers, though not usually gritty. I would have the trigger work done by a smith. Unless you are experienced that is not something to do at home.

  Sand. . .no.
  Polish. . .maybe. Depends on your experience and mechanical aptitude.
  
  Before trying ANYTHING like that, I'd get a snap cap and dry fire the gun at least 1000 times and see what happens. I suspect it will break in.
  
  Also, it never hurts to disassemble the gun completely, clean it thoroughly, and put a few drops of lube in the trigger mechanism.

  wouldn't being striker fired rule out sanding or polishing? agree on thorough cleaning and proper lubrication along with more range time than 200 rounds. get out and get it all hot a few times, you'll get used to it.[;)]

  There is a lot of information out there on smoothing up the striker fired Glock, and some developing on the S&W Plastic M&P.
  
  I checked on the Ruger board and there is a nice illustrated takedown guide with recommendations on what to polish. I think the OP has found it by now.
