I would like to see it! Cerakote finish & Richard's Microfit stock. I wish I could take credit for the Cerakote & wonderful stock finish & inleting but can't. My camera work can't do it justice. If anyone want's to know who these experts are e-mail me.

It looks like the stock was positioned at about 9 o'clock, top and bottom at north and south looking at the end of the log, with the cheek piece where there was a fork in the tree.
The grain matches this, looking at the grain where the cheek piece meets the stock.
I never saw one like this before, saw hundreds of Richard's stocks in his shop. Pretty grain here, - looked at this for 10 minutes trying to figure this out.
I'm just wondering if Mark Christian remembers you when we met him at the SHOT SHOW a while back.
Continued: - I admit I goofed up on identifying this "plywood" stock. I don't use them. First mistake I've made since 1951.0 -
The 'grain structure' of this stock is the result of the stock being made from a laminated blank or what is often referred to as plywood, albeit they use a higher grade of wood veneers for this application. Thin 'plies' are glued together and then pressed under extremely high pressure to make the blank. The blank is then machined to the outside shape and inletted for the particular rifle.
I think Richard's Microfit can still be a good value for most of us except that they can be a tad inconsistent in their quality. The pads and the white line spacers are a little out of date but that can always be resolved by ordering the stock without them and adding your own touches.
Overall, it's nice looking rifle Jeff. I think the Swiss rifles are one of the best bargains of the century.

cbxjeff.......great looking rifle! I agree that the Swiss are some great shooters! The laminated stock of this rifle is much like the German laminated stocks for the 98k that were made beginning right before WWII. Very attractive, IMHO. How does it shoot? 0 -
To my way of thinking I'd shudder if I saw that on the table at a show and wish it were in the original military stock.
However, so far as the piece of wood goes in and of itself, it is very nice indeed.0 -

Thanks for the kind words guys. Yeah, I'm like a new proud dad! Good to hear from you I.S. It's been a long time - keep in touch. I e-mail Mark now & then. Went to 3 Shot Shows since we met. Missed this year but hope to get back to Vegas next year. I understand that jonk but I bought 3 K-31's & 6 Mosin's about 3 years ago. I'll probably sporterize 1 of each model and leave the others original. Back then I think all 9 cost me less than $1K and I drove 70 miles into IL to pick them up. Naturally the ones I reconfigure are no longer considered C&R pieces. The K-31's are in unbelieveable condition for their age. I looked into this and thought about it. Well the Swiss haven't been in a war! Every able bodied man gets one and uses it only for training. Shot very little. Only common problem is weather damage from being stacked in snow (I kept the best 2 stocks). I'll take it to the range once gary, but it sure won't ride around in my truck. I'll shoot one of the others after that. 0
