    There would be store models but they too are mossberg made. Serial numbers were not required by law until 1968, so it doesn't have one.

    A B would indicate gauge. A=12 B=20 C=16 i think D or E =410.

    Thanks for the quick response, I'm a little confused because the info I received from the attached web link states the
    MODEL 85 (1934-37), 85A (37-39), 85B (39-40) & 85D (40-46) was only offered in 20 GA.

    Wasn't aware of the serial number requirement in 68 so thank you for that info.

    Been wrong before so here this is probably different tooling or like the .22's a little different in stock or sights.
