I would like to sale it, it is to bulky for me to carry.
What is it worth,I can't find anything about it online.It is in very good shape.

It should be a .38 and not a .380, which is a cartridge for small automatic pistols. In decent shape most of these later Charter Arms (Charco, Charter 2000, or whatever name they are using this month) sell in the $150-$200 range. 0 -
GOOGLE, Charter Arms .38 Special revolver. If it's in descent shape, your probably looking in the range of $200-$300. They were never big buck guns. 0 -
I'm sorry , it is a .38 I have been talking guns w/my dad all weekend and I put it wrong on my question.I would like to have a kel tec .380 my dad wants me to have a 9mm. What do you think about kel tec ? I just need something small enough to carry in my purse when traveling. 0 -
If weight and space are most important then the 380 or the 32 are about equal to a pack of smokes. I have the P-11 which is the double stack 9. It is a little larger and heavier than the 380. Ammo for the 9 is usually easier to find and cheaper. I have been pleased with the accuracy of the 9 with some practice. 0 -
Probably better off with what you have. Do some additional research and discuss with your Father further.
The value of your gun will depend on factors like where you live and what condition it is in. If you live in the Northeast it will be harder to sell and ship.0 -

Kel Tec is really small and light, but its got several drawbacks:
a. .380 ammo tends to be scarce and expensive right now.
b. Kel Tec .380s are notoriously unreliable. They may work better after several hundred rounds have been put through them to break them in. . .see a. above.
c. It can be physically difficult to rack the slide on these little guns. I've seen women who lack the strength to do so.
You're probalby not going to find a .38 special revolver that is a lot SMALLER than the one you have, but you should be able to find one much LIGHTER. Smith and Wesson, Taurus, the new Charter Arms, and several other companies make similar small snubnose revolvers using aluminum alloy frames that only weight about 14-15 ounces vs the 25 ounces of an all steel gun. Its a BIG difference in your purse.0 -
By the way, many experts strongly frown about carrying a gun in the purse, because:
-Lets say a purse snatcher grabs your purse. . .congratuations, not only are you unarmed, but you've just handed a gun to a criminal.
-You drop your purse, or leave it on your chair while you go to the ladies room. . .now you've left a loaded gun lying around. . .maybe not so good.
-If assaulted, are you going to be able to dig through your purse and quickly draw the gun? With one hand? It would help if you are using a special purse with a gun holster. Are you?
If you intend to carry a concealed gun, ideally, the gun should be concealed on YOUR PERSON. . .though many women simply don't dress in a way that makes this sort of concealed carry practical.0 -
Thanks, I didn't think about availability of it being in purse, or it being taken,good point. Size is a big part of my reason for wanting a change, concealing on person is the problem, with what I have.I have stopped carrying ,because it is to heavy and bulky in purse. Not carrying is driving my dad nuts. 0 -
I must agree with beantown, a purse isn't such a good idea.
As far as the K-T goes, my wike carries one & she likes it. We bought her a Fobus holster to wear on her hip & a pocket holster for when the side carry isn't practical. The K-T is very small & fits in her pocket easily. An inside the waist band holster might serve you well.
When we first got the K-T we had a few jamming problems when it was new, but when I cleaned it I took a few minutes to polish the feed ramp & now it shoots fine. I've put Hydra-Shoks, Golden Sabers, and 95 & 100 gr cast reloads through it with no problems.
The K-T is double action only with no safety. It's like a revolver in that regard, just point & pull the trigger. Some like that feature, others don't. You'll have to decide for yourself.
Another gun you might want to consider is the Bersa Thunder .380. It's basically a copy of the Walther PPK and is a very reliable shooter. Plus it's MUCH easier to break down for cleaning. It's what I carry.
A .38 snubby might serve your needs, they
are small, concealable, and pack a bigger punch than the .380. Ammo is easier to find, too. However, most .38 snubs are only 5 shot, where the K-T is 6+1 and the Bersa is 7+1. There are a few 6 shot snubs out there, with Taurus & Rossi coming to mind. I don't know about any others.
You might want to think about going to a range that offers rentals and try a few out for yourself. It's time consuming & a little costly, but you're much more likely to find a gun you really like. If that's not possible then go to the range with a few buddies & try out their weapons.
In any case, good luck with your purchase. I applaud your decision to protect yourself.

I carry the Kel-Tec 380, 24-7 in a pocket holster. I forget it is there as it is light and small. If that is what you go with, get some good H ammo and ball for practice. Make sure the HP'S feed before you carry. 0
